Kim came to the salon for a complete makeover and photo shoot that she won at a silent auction for Hospice.  During Kim’s consultation, Margaret learned that she liked the length of her hair, wanted to be able to utilize her natural curls and wanted a professional, yet edgy look.  Kim’s root area was a problem for her because she was coloring it every two and a half weeks to keep the gray under control.

Next Margaret discussed Kim’s face shape with her, which is narrow at the forehead and chin with a wide cheek area.  They both agreed that she had a diamond face shape.  Her eyes were a beautiful light green and her existing cut and color kept the magnetism of her eyes hidden.

Margaret’s first step was to lighten the color at the roots by one shade and add highlights and lowlights.  The highlights helped to soften the root area so the regrowth of her gray wouldn’t be as noticeable.  The lowlights were done in a warm cinnamon brown to give her hair just a touch of red and bring out the color of her eyes.  After the color finished processing, Margaret cut her hair in a simple square layer and added more bangs and layering along the face.  The bangs were heavily texturized to add yet another way to highlight her gorgeous eyes.

Kim’s makeup began with a little concealer under the eyes and foundation to even out her skin tone. Her eyebrows were filled with a warm brown shadow to give her a warmer look.  The eye shadow was simple, yet dramatic in the outer corners to add depth and mystery.  Natural colors were used on the cheeks and lips to complete the look.

Kim’s hair was styled with products that would bring out the natural curl and fullness.  Her bangs were dried straight and pieced.

Then it was off to the photo shoot with Ami.  As you can see, the overall effect was dramatic and her pictures reflect the vixen from within.

Day Makers

Being a Day Maker is one of the main reasons why becoming a hairstylist was so appealing to Ami. The ability to make an individual cry tears of joy after a makeover gives us a delightful chill that shoots all the way down to our toes.  It’s so overwhelming in a fabulous way once you have transformed a client’s image.  We never tend to our clients like robots, spewing out the same hairstyle, one after the next.  We customize everyone’s look to fit their lifestyle, frame, and personality.  Pampering our clients and reminding them of how special and beautiful they are is a huge part of the total experience at Scalped Salon and Spa.

Ami had the privilege of being able to turn an over-processed bleach blonde client into a rich brown Babe with natural highlights. The difference in her appearance was phenomenal.  She was kissed with a more youthful look, taking ten years or more off of her instantly.  Since Robin was such a pleasure to work with, it made the unveiling of this New Woman even more satisfying.
